Managing competence for safety related systems. Part 2: Supplementary material

A safety-related system is a system whose correct operation is necessary for ensuring or maintaining safety. This document gives ideas on how to set up and operate a competence management system (CMS) in a way that achieves the requirements of UK legislation and is efficient, effective, minimises administrative overhead, and can be audited efficiently. However, the ideas suggested are not applicable to all organisations. For example, the resources necessary for some of the solutions may not be proportionate to the risk, or appropriate for the size of the organisation.
