Organised by the E & S.E Asia:Hong Kong local network.

About this event

Each year, Hong Kong households and corporates throw away more than 70,000 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment. While some of these items are still in good working condition and could be put to second-hand use, all of them contain components and materials that could be recovered for reuse and recycling, such as metals and plastics. There are also hazardous materials that need to be treated carefully to prevent fire and environmental pollution.
To ensure proper treatment of waste electrical and electronic equipment and to stop disposal of these equipment at landfills, a new treatment and recycling facility in EcoPark at Tuen Man was newly built. The facility will use state-of-the art technology provided by the ALBA Group to process refrigerators, TVs, computers, washing machines and air conditioners into valuable secondary raw materials while ensuring that hazardous materials are properly contained and disposed of.
