This event will provide delegates with an in depth insight into the workings of a modern day power station.

About this event

Fiddlers Ferry is one of the largest coal fired power stations in the uk at at 2000MW. This power station is a prominent landmark which can be seen even as far away as the Peak District and the Pennines.

This event offers the delegates the opportunity to learn more about the workings of this modern day coal power station. The power generation process comprises of, coal plant, ash lagoons, rocktron plant, biomass storage, control room and many further interesting infrastructure and equipment which delegates will have the opportunity to view.

The coach will also transport delegates around the plant during the tour.


09:00:Coach departs from Manchester Conference Centre, Sackgille St, Manchester (please arrive 15 minutes earlier)

10:00- arrive, settled, h+s

10:15 – 11:00 – intro + DVD

11:00-11:10– refreshment break

11:10 -11:30 – Hopefully a talk and/or Q+A

11:30 – 12:00 – early lunch break

12:15 – embark coach for tour of site

Additional tour in the turbine hall and boiler house will be available for delegates who have

PPE consisting of boiler suit full overalls (not allowed disposable), steal toe capped boots,

hard hat, gloves, ear protection and goggles.

1:45- return to ERC building

1:45 – refreshment break

2:00 –      Coach departs Fiddler Ferry Power Station to return delegates back to University of Manchester

Estimated to be by 2.30pmCoach arrives back in, Manchester Conference Centre, Sackville St, Manchester.

Additional information

 A coach will be provided as a return journey transportation to and from Fiddlers Ferry. Pick up and drop off point will be near the Sackville St Campus of University of Manchester. Registrants will be provided further details closer to the date of the event. 

Please bring and medications required for diabetes, heart complaints, allergies etc

Mobile phones and recording equipment will not be allowed whilst on the site tour but pictures can be taken at the ERC and before entering site

Smoking is not allowed on site
