About this event

Robot Triathlon - Registration of Interest
Design a robot to compete in the IET Birmingham’s Robot Triathlon event! You could be an individual robot enthusiast, a school STEM club or a group of like-minded undergraduates. Whatever your experience, we have the events to suit you:
Line Follower
Equip your robot with a sensor that will help it follow a black line track, around bends and along straights until it gets back to the start. Competitors can choose an advanced option to negotiate around obstacles.
Time Trial
How fast can your robot run around a rectangular walled “maze”? Sense the walls, don’t run into them! Competitors can choose an advanced option to run around a figure-of-eight maze.
Drag Race
Straight-line speed is the key to this event, but your robot must brake once it reaches the finish line! Additional points are gained for stopping before reaching the “virtual wall” - lose points if your robot doesn’t stop in time!
Play your Joker at the start of your best event and get double points!
Each robot must use standard N20 style Micro Metal Gearmotors for the competition but the rest is up to you! Prizes will be awarded for best performance in each event, best overall performance and, new for this year, most creative design.
Following on from the previous years’ collaborations with universities in Birmingham, this year we are very pleased to be holding the event in conjunction with the University of Derby and The Quad.
Register your interest here and full information (Registration Form, Event Rules, Physical Dimensions & Details) will be supplied in due course.
