About this event

NOTE: Due to security requirements this site visit is limited to UK Nationals.

The AWE Educational Collection is the only place in existence where you can see a physical historic collection of the UK’s nuclear weapons through the ages.
The event will begin with a multimedia presentation describing the evolution of international politics and nuclear technology. This is followed by a guided tour of the museum, which contains hundreds of fascinating exhibits and artefacts which will leave you with a privileged understanding of the UK’s atomic weapons programme. The event is sponsored by the AWE Head of Engineering, who will also give a brief presentation.  
This event is open to UK nationals. You may be subject to a security check. Current passport or photographic driving licence is required for all participants. 
The tour begins at 14:00, and will last up to 2 hours. Please arrive ~30 minutes early in order to register, clear security, and be escorted to the venue. Entry will not be granted without appropriate photo ID. Disabled access to the theatre and museum may be possible, please get in touch if this is required. 
PLEASE NOTE: NO ELECTRONIC STORAGE DEVICES WILL BE ALLOWED ON SITE. This includes, but is not limited to: cameras, mobile phones, laptops, memory sticks, and any device which is capable of storing electronic or photographic data. Please leave these at home or in your car. Parking permits for the AWE main gate car park can be acquired for free in the reception building.


Site visit start at 14:00 to 16:00
Allow 30 minutes for security checks.
There will be no refreshments
