About this event

Gammon Construction Limited launched Zero Harm in 2009. In 2010, Zero Harm Induction Centre was established. It is compulsory for Gammon’s direct staff members and subcontractors to receive Zero Harm Induction before they can be deployed to work on site. To enhance two-way communication and make the training more participatory, Gammon collaborated with HKU and UNSW Australia to develop a custom-made gaming and virtual reality (VR) application for safety training.

The technology, similar to BIM applications or CAB simulation, is just like video games in two-D or three-D mode. It simulates site environments to generate construction experience, which covers five major topics namely Falling from Height, Falling Objects, Electricity, Moving Plant and Drowning.

Participants of this technical similar can have a feel of actual site conditions such as walking around and hearing the sound of engines. They can operate backhoes and drive vehicles and feel how things go wrong in unsafe environments.

The gaming software can show different scenarios and invites participants to respond and think about solutions.
