About this event

This talk, by David O’Brien MA MEng of Photocentric Ltd, is organised by the Peterborough Joint Panel, supported by the IET and the IMechE.

In recent years, Photocentric has developed 3D printers and their associated photopolymer resins. David will describe his work on the design and development of the company's ‘Liquid Crystal’ range of printers. They utilise LCD screens emitting visible light to cure the resin and build the part. This makes them unlike any other 3D printer on the market today.

The presentation will include an overview of the different resin-based 3D printing technologies, including Photocentric’s ‘Daylight Polymer Printing’. The story will be told of the development of the printers from the first experiments on the lab bench to the three models offered today. There will be a chance to ask questions and talk to David and the directors of Photocentric. There will be examples of the printers on display and a selection of printed parts, demonstrating some of the capabilities of resin-based 3D printing.
