Fanling, Hong Kong - icon_popup  (See map)

Organised by the E & S.E Asia:Hong Kong local network.

About this event

The project is one of the major construction contracts of a new cross-boundary connection with a 4.8-km-long dual two-lane Lung Shan Tunnel excavated by tunnel boring machine (TBM) and Drill-&-Blast techniques, mid-ventilation adit, and temporary site formation at portals with other associated works.

The Lung Shan Tunnel will be the longest twin-tube road tunnel in Hong Kong upon completion. A number of engineering techniques were adopted for the first time in Hong Kong, including the adoption of Hong Kong’s largest Earth Pressure Balanced EPB TBM with a diameter of 14.1 metres, to tackle the challenges of excavating the geological area with multiple faults and mixed ground conditions.
