About this event

Britwind are part of Ecotricity Group, the world’s first and Britain’s greenest energy company. Ecotricity has over 90MW of installed renewable generation and 200,000 domestic and business customers for its 100% green electricity and green gas.

Britwind design and manufacture small wind turbines (we like to call them windmills) that are some of the most innovative in the world. Ecotricity, through the Britwind products, has a simple aim: to bring lower bills and energy independence to homes and business worldwide – with windmills designed, engineered and manufactured in Britain.

Small windmills are generally designed to be used "behind the meter" - i.e. displacing otherwise expensive (and usually brown) energy coming from the grid into the property, not just to put power on to the grid (which is the model for much larger MW scale turbines). They are also used in off-grid systems, where access to grid is impossible or prohibitively expensive, reducing the requirement for high cost diesel generation.
