About this event

In Hong Kong, Fire & Gas (F&G) detectors are deployed in various hazardous facilities (e.g.  Flammable hydrocarbon storage and processing, toxic chlorine storage and usage), as a critical barrier to mitigate the potential fire, explosion and toxic accidents in this highly populated metropolis. F&G detection is one of the crucial safety systems in the hazardous industry. In the last decade, its assessment and optimization has experienced rapid development and become an indispensable part of the safety studies for major Oil & Gas and Chemical Facilities.  Dr. Sunny Cao will be sharing on how to achieve the cost effective Fire & Gas detection system implementation in the hazardous facilities, to assure the safety performance as well as optimize the asset management.

Biography of the Speaker:
Dr. Cao is a Chartered Engineer specializing in Safety & Risk Management - Process Safety Analysis (PHA, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, PSM, etc.), QRA, Fire & Gas Detection Mapping, Safety Audit, Incident Review/Investigation and Project Risk Management. Dr. Cao is a Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) and has facilitated workshops for Oil & Gas production, refinery, storage facilities and chemical production at various locations. He has worked on the EIA QRA studies of the Hong Kong projects for MTR, Highways, CEDD, WSD, Towngas, ASB Biodiesel, etc. He has played key roles in several projects particularly in innovative data analysis/modelling and developed a variety of safety & risk assessment software. He has completed 30+ Fire & Gas detection assessment projects for major Operating Companies and Contractors. Currently he is leading the Fire & Gas Detection Mapping service in ERM. He is a Member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), a Member of Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and an Associate Member of Hong Kong Association of Risk Management and Safety (AMHKARMS).
