About this event

Matthew Roberts from the University of Oxford will be talking about battery technology. The Lithium ion battery powered the portable electronics revolution with smart phones and laptops enabled by this technology. Today as the world moves towards a sustainable future these technologies are finding more applications than ever particularly in the automotive market. In this talk the underlying principles of this technology will be introduced and a historical perspective of this field will be given. This will be followed by an in depth look at the battery of today focusing on how to maximise power and energy densities while maintaining a safe technology. Finally a perspective on upcoming future technologies will be given which hope to continue to improve the landscape of energy storage
