About this event

The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) South Australia and the Northern Territory (SA&NT) Local Network will be hosting a Defence Professional Networks Event centred on creating the next Defence engineering workforce in South Australia. The event aims to provide an opportunity for Australian industry, government and academia to connect and share the collective knowledge around education and skills development. With continuing progress with the Naval Shipbuilding Plan and other significant Defence projects, the IET aims to take a central role in supporting awareness of the importance of engineering in the workforce growth to realise the sovereign Defence industry capability in Australia.

The SA&NT Local Network has confirmed that the Hon Christopher Pyne MP, Minister for Defence Industry and Leader of the House will speak at the event with an update on naval shipbuilding and the projects/opportunities for SA as a result of this Government’s commitment to building a sovereign defence and defence industry capability.

A presentation on behalf of the Defence Industry Education and Skills Consortium (DIESC) will introduce collaborative arrangements made in the academic support to the workforce development. There will also be an industry speaker from Siemens on the afternoon.

The event promises to be valuable for all defence industry business leaders and young professionals, in particular for those currently practicing in an engineering discipline, and for those with an interest in the development of defence industry across Australia.
