About this event

Enjoy a great meal, great company and hear from a leading entrepreneur, Andrea Baptiste who will give us an overview of how she has built companies in the Ottawa area including all the ups and downs. Her inspiring and engaging style will offer an informative and thought provoking after dinner presentation that should be of interest to all. Andrea will include in her talk ideas and concepts about diversity in Engineering and the need to expose the field to young people at an early age to promote STEM.  She will weave the topics together in an engaging and enjoyable fashion.

Andrea Baptiste is a veteran executive with more than 20 years of experience in enterprise, B2B and B2C software, SaaS and telecommunications networking.  Most recently Andrea was President and CEO of Benbria, where she drove corporate strategy, raised financing rounds, and provided executive leadership in the development of strategic partnerships.  Prior to joining Benbria, Andrea was co-founder and CEO of Atreus Systems where she successfully led the company’s growth resulting in its acquisition by Sonus Networks in 2008. Prior to co-founding Atreus Systems, Andrea was responsible for business development at Cambrian Systems, a metro DWDM equipment vendor that was acquired by Nortel Networks in 1998.  Andrea’s experience in business leadership includes setting vision and strategy, heading up venture capital financing rounds, merger and acquisitions, as well as establishing strategic partnerships with some of the world’s largest hardware and software companies. Andrea’s prior experience includes management positions at CrossKeys Systems, TeleSat Mobile Inc., and Newbridge Networks. 
Currently, Andrea is a member of the Queen’s University Innovation Connector Advisory Board. Andrea is also a board member of International Luxury Hotel Association (ILHA) Leadership Advisory Council. 
Andrea holds a B.A. Sc. (Honours, Applied Science in Electrical Engineering) from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and has achieved accreditation as a Professional Engineer of Ontario.
