The digitalisation of manufacturing is a topic of global interest — in Germany the concept is known as ‘Industrie 4.0.’

New products must be brought to market in ever shorter time frames. Customers demand products that satisfy their specific needs. Rapidly changing markets call for a growing level of flexibility. The desire for increased efficiency means the efficient use of resources with no loss of quality or improved quality.

A tour of UTC Warrington after the lecture will showcase how science and engineering
students are already embracing digital technologies within advanced engineering.
