About this event

Think of virtual reality (VR) and you will probably conjure up images of fantastical landscapes in a game. But VR can also be embedded to give people better understanding of the world around them...

Our speaker Chris Longmore, director of Drive, an automotive design consultancy, will describe how VR is applied to the application of engineering design in the automotive industry.

He will explain  in detail the technology used to create virtual experiences so allowing better feedback on a design before committing to expensive physical full-size models. Chris will also describe how this has led to creating VR experiences for training exercises such as emergency train evacuation proceedures.

There will also be an opportunity for small numbers of the audience to 'experience' VR on stage during Chris's presentation.
