About this event

“Real-time dynamic mapping system” updates maps and geographic information in milliseconds. Users will see "live maps" with surging waves, spreading fire, growing crops,  migrating animals, running lava, moving pedestrians, flowing traffic in contrast to static satellite images in traditional map services provide by Google, Yahoo and Baidu, etc. that would only be updated by months/years. The map has multiple zooming levels to aggregate and present information on different scales.  “Dawn”, an electric powered multi-rotors drone (or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, UAV) with revolutionary design, capable to cruise and collect data and aerial images even in extreme conditions like plateaus, snow mountains and deserts. When paired with the UAV ground station, the solution will be able to deliver advanced features like autopilot and one-click surveying and mapping.  An overview of local regulations and applications of UAV will also be presented in the introduction of the seminar.

About the Speaker

Mr Stanley Lau, Committee Member of Railway & Transport Section (RTS) Committee (2016-2017), chartered electronics engineer in railway and aviation industries for more than 20 years, developed his professional career in various industries, including industrial and consumer electronics, railway telecommunications, automatic fare collection and Main Control Systems, aviation communication, navigation and surveillance system engineering and safety management system.  Mr Lau currently takes up a regulator role in the Air Traffic Management Standards Office of the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department.

Mr Weinan Feng, Software Development Engineer of Yuniverse Aviation Technology, the software master behind the dynamic mapping system that enables “live” update of maps and geographical information could be updated in milliseconds instead of months/years in traditional map services provided by Google, Yahoo and Baidu.  Mr Feng obtained his master degree in computer science from Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden) and prior to his innovative journey with Yuniverse, he worked in Volvo Cars in Sweden designed the concept of Connected Volvo Cars and being used in newest Volvo XC90 and S90.
