About this event

The sun plays an important role in our everyday lives in many ways, for instance by controlling the weather and generating electricity. Outside our atmosphere it also governs the environment throughout the solar system, through the influence of the solar wind. The time varying nature of the sun’s activity and the solar wind give rise to fluctuations in this environment which we deem “space weather”. Such phenomena includes explosive events such as solar flares which can have consequences for technological systems as well as human life on Earth.
This talk will provide an overview of space weather phenomenon and how it can influence various elements of our daily lives.
