About this event

With the drive for lower vehicle emissions and more efficient drivelines, future propulsion system solutions are becoming increasingly diverse and the application of electrification is growing at an increasing rate.  Increased urbanisation, emission regulations, CO2 legislation and air quality issues along with cultural and demographic changes are leading to shifts in consumer attitudes and customer acceptance of new technology.

Stephen Doyle has more than 32 years experience of engineering management and business development in the aerospace and automotive industry.  He now leads business development at Ricardo for hybrid and electronic systems and his talk will explain the drivers and enablers of the electrification trend and what it means for the future market for low carbon vehicles.

Technological advances and making electric vehicles more attractive to consumers will be presented covering issues from battery costs and EV range to charging infrastructure and charging rates.  Ricardo's vision of what electrification means for the powertrain market in 2035 and beyond will be explained along with their views on the size of the XEV market, powertrain mix and where Ricardo are focussing their R&D today.

Speaker:  Steve Doyle BEng (Hons) CEng MIMechE, Product Group Head Ricardo Hybrid and Electronic Systems Business Unit.
