About this event

East West Rail is a nationally significant infrastructure programme with goals to:
  • connect people and businesses as a stimulus for regional growth
  • create new journey and connectivity options for the rail network
  • embed high targets for sustainability into the project from an early stage
There is now a broad commitment to delivery of the Western Section  while the longer term goal of filling in the missing link between Bedford and Cambridge is being actively developed.

This lecture is intended to explain how projects of this type are developed.  The presentation will explain the challenges being faced by the project team which arise from both the scale and complexity of the Western Section and provide an appreciation of the challenges to come in developing the Central Section.
