About this event

Speaker: Ian Glover, President of CREST

Cyber threats are growing in scale and complexity; as attacks become more automated and more difficult to detect, traditional cybersecurity practices – many built around manual processes – simply can’t keep up. AI techniques are being utilised for monitoring activities on networks and systems looking for anomalies.  As the attack tools are becoming more sophisticated automated vulnerability analysis tools are using AI techniques to provide basic reviews, find new vulnerabilities or to augment the professional penetration testers.  AI techniques are being utilised by threat intelligence service providers to make sense of the huge amount of data available on the internet and dark web.  If the defensive security industry is using these techniques then it is safe to assume that the lucrative cyber enabled criminals are also investing in such technologies.  The use of big data analytics and AI will be used to identify weaknesses to be exploited on mass.  They will also be used to encourage individuals and companies to open illegitimate email attachments and access websites that can be used to download malicious software into the organisation rendering many of the current security awareness programmes redundant.
