About this event

The Reception provides an opportunity over a drink and light bites for members, partners and friends, plus guests from local industry and academia, to meet and chat about the many activities and opportunities in our region. After the initial meet and greet, there will be a welcome address by IET Vice President Andy Bevington, followed by an entertaining half-hour talk by our Guest Speaker, and then the Reception.
The Guest Speaker, Rhys Phillips, is an engineer for Airbus Group Innovations Newport, where he is part of the Lightning and Electrostatics team. He is also renowned as a radio broadcaster and guest speaker, having given talks around the world. He is a co-founder of Cardiff Science Festival and when not in the lab or on air, he can also be found on stage leading his jazz band or compering his touring science variety night.
