About this event

Most homes in the UK were connected by a pair of copper wires to a local exchange. But now those connections have to give you access to a seemingly infinite source of information, to buy things online, bring you television on demand, meet all social networking needs and enable you to play interactive games with people in other countries. How has all of this been possible?  Nigel examines the improvements in the telephone network has delivered broadband, and now superfast broadband (with optical fibre) to our homes. Those connections have become the critical first and last mile of our connected world.  He will also describe developments, and lessons learned from the recent floods.
