This seminar will give attendees from the institutions and other interested parties, an insight into low carbon energy.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided as well as ample opportunities to ask questions and debate the issues raised. The event is a joint venture with The IET, IMechE, The Nuclear Institute and the Energy Island project which is a venture by the Welsh Government.
The day will be chaired by Dr Tim Fox who is head of Environment and Energy at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Also speaking will be John Earp who is an independent  Nuclear Consultant and is a trustee of The Nuclear Institute, he will speak on Small Modular Reactors. There will also be a session on renewable energy which will include topics such as Solar PV's, offshore marine turbines and wind turbines. In addition, a representative from Horizon Nuclear Power who, with Hitachi, are building the new Boiling Water Reactor at Wylfa on Anglesey. The "Energy Island" project will be discussed by Dr John Idris Jones from Anglesey County Council and the renewable energy will be facilitated by  Dr Timothy Stone who is the former global head of infrastructure at KPMG and Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State within DECC providing expert advice on new nuclear development in the UK.  He will deliver a talk outlining the Government’s strategy for future energy requirements and be available to network and facilitate talks throughout the day. A Poster for the event can be found here.
