About this event

London is a powerhouse for UK innovation, invention and ingenuity. More recently, it has been turning its traditional red buses green through the rapid introduction of hybrid buses, including the flagship New Routemaster, retrofitting more than 900 older buses with far cleaner exhaust systems and piloting zero-emission technologies such as hydrogen fuel-cell and all-electric vehicles. The speed and extent of change puts London way ahead of its major international counterparts at promoting emissions reduction and developing sustainable public transport for the 21st century.
In this lecture, Leon Daniels from Transport for London (TfL) will explain the innovative and exciting green technology this being rolled out across the bus network and set this in the wider context of how Transport for London keeps London working and growing, to improve the life of the people who live, work and visit the Capital. TfL is not just a transport organisation – we are an integral part of delivering the Mayor’s strategies for London as a first class world city coping with economic and population growth sustainably.
