In this presentation state-of-the art in the area of energy efficient design for the next generation mobile communication is reviewed. In particular the main focus is on Cloud Radio Networks Architecture as well as Small Cell Architecture. Advantages and disadvantages of each approch are also discussed from both technical and economical perspectives followed by quick update on the standardization activities in this area.
