About this event

TATA Steel, Specialty Steels has a versatile 270m long billet mill comprising slabbing & blooming, intermediate and (2) finishing mills, all reversing type. Including hot scarfing, bloom shears and various hot saws, the mill is uniquely capable of rolling a wide variety of complex steel grades and sizes. The plant is virtually unchanged since major developments in the 1950's & 60's with each component part having its own local control pulpit and operating team.
A recent (2013) £1million project has now centralised the control of the complete mill into one state of the art Super Control Pulpit.
