Greener Electricity - Biomass Generation at Drax Power Station

With a total generating capacity of 4 gigawatts, Drax is Britain's largest power station. The visit will be a chance to have a tour of the site and learn about the latest developments in the conversion of part of the station to biomass fuel.

About this event

Mr. Phil Woodall, Head of the Biomass Section, Drax Power
Station, will cover the reasons for Biomass generation, what
it consists of and the benefits derived from it. He will talk
about the difficulties of using biomass as a fuel. The presentation
will be proceeded by a tour of the Biomass plant by
coach and you will also visit the control room to see the
generation of electricity in operation. Attendees must wear
strong footwear and be prepared for stairs. Other safety
equipment will be provided for use on the evening by Drax.
Numbers are limited and will be given on a first-come basis.
