Synopsis:

What is the Raspberry Pi?  And what is all the fuss about? 

Richard Moore will bring along his Raspberry Pi and give a whistle-stop tour of its features, installation and use.  The Raspberry Pi is an extra-ordinarily inexpensive computer with huge potential as an education aid and for serious work.  It is 2012's answer to the fondly remembered BBC micro, but at a fraction of the price and with considerably more computing power to its elbow.

About The Speaker:

Richard J Moore CEng CITP FIET FBCS. 

Richard is an engineer with IBM. His work includes operating system design and development and he has recently worked on the mainframe z-processors microarchitecture.  Richard has a career in computing spanning 34 years plus two more as a maths teacher.  He currently holds the honorary position of Chairman of the Solent Network of the IET.
