About this event

This joint presentation with the Energy Institute explores the steps taken by Seven Trent since 2007 in the development of renewable energy.  Martin Dent from Severn Trent will discuss:-

  • Why a water company is interested in renewable energy and their process for initiating their large scale wind programme including initial site selection.
  • Detailed description of the Wanlip project, from feasibility through to design and construction, community involvement and the associated operational and maintenance.

Martin Dent joined Severn Trent Water Ltd in 1992, and spent 2 years with Severn Trent International working on projects in the developing world between 2000 and 2002.  Since 2002 he has been at Severn Trent’s Engineering team where he project managed the installation of combined heat and power plants fuelled by Sewage Gas at 26 of Severn Trent’s largest Sewage treatment works.  Subsequently he joining a dedicated team focused on Energy efficiency and renewable generation, where he is now responsible for the delivery of Severn Trent ‘s renewable energy expansion programme, including sewage gas Combined Heat and Power (CHP), crop CHP, large wind, biomethane to grid injection, hydro and solar photovoltaic plants.
