About this event

The AGMs will be followed by a talk on a project in Malaysia on “Digital Troposcatter Communications”.

The talk on a Trans-horizon Digital Troposcatter Communications Link in Malaysia will look at the link requirement, troposcatter principles, the link implementation, the hardware and the performance achieved.

About the speaker

Prof. John Roulston is an engineer with some background in management. He spent 34 years in defence electronics and in that environment he ended up bidding, planning and managing high risk projects, trouble-shooting, re-negotiating and such things, most of it international. He had 2 years as CEO of a flamboyant Plc and tried to make it less flamboyant and more profitable. He is almost 8 years now into technology consultancy through his own company Scimus Solutions. It is not a standard formula, because he did not set out to build a company. As it stands today the company has a net worth around half a million pounds and could merge sensibly with the right prospect, but that's almost accidental. His company is not a model to follow. It has zero employees, 2 shareholders and is a dividend-only enterprise.

He was chair of the Engineering Policy Group for Scotland for 6 years until January '13 when he passed over the reins.

He has plenty of experience with SMEs and start-ups. At last count Company House recorded 23 directorships over the years, though only two active at the moment. He has a founding share in an Israeli high-tech start-up at present and he has messed about in the high-tech scene in Israel, more because he likes the Mediterranean than anything else.
