About this event

Extracting oil and gas from below the seabed has been a technology-driven endeavour since the early seventies.   A limited number of specialist equipment providers worldwide were offering bespoke subsea solutions for every new reservoir bestowed with a licence to produce oil.   In recent decades subsea engineering knowledge and practices have grown and matured.   There is a recognition and a drive towards more standardised competitive systems to meet increasing global demand. The sector is starting to industrialise itself and looking to related sectors such as aerospace and defence – even the car industry – for clues.  The presentation will take a look at typical subsea systems; what they do and how they have evolved.  It will explore one ongoing journey towards integrated product and process design (IPPD) taking a manufacturing view point.

About the speaker
Serena Jones is the director of Global Manufacturing, Subsea, FMC Technologies.  She has been 25 years in industry including 18 years in Oilfield Services.   Serena has a MSc (Eng) in Production Engineering and a BSc(Hons) in Psychology.
