About this event

We are pleased to welcome Neil Brailsford who will give an after-dinner presentation on 'Managed Motorways, do they work and why do we need them?'

Neil is a Technical Director of the consultancy firm Cogniva. He has 40 years experience of transport technology and has been instrumental in many Managed Motorway schemes.

The presentation will start by looking for the key drivers for the introduction of Managed Motorways and will then consider how the concept of Managed Motorways has evolved. Neil will explain the control strategy and technology used to-day. Finally, he will discuss where the future is taking us.

There will be a complimentary glass of wine or orange juice in the Kennet Room on arrival. This will be followed by a two-course dinner, with wine and coffee included, in the Avon Room.

The hotel will be pleased to provide a vegetarian meal if requested. This must be ordered beforehand on the Booking Form. There will be no charge for parking at the Hotel. Guests are very welcome. The Dress Code is Lounge Suit.     

There will be a small number of seats, at no charge, in the Avon Room for those who would like to hear the presentation  but do not wish to attend the Dinner. These seats must be booked in advance on the Booking Form. The presentation is expected to start at about 21.00. Complimentary coffee will be available in the Kennet Room from 20.30 for those not dining.

Pre-registration is essential. There are a limited number of free seats for the lecture only.
