Troy, United States - icon_popup  (See map)

Organised by the USA - New England local network.

About this event

Individual competitors give a presentation for 10 minutes on a subject related to engineering and technology and to answer questions for a further five minutes.

Applicants must be between 18 and 26 years old but may come from all walks of engineering life: students, recent graduates, apprentices and young professionals. The competition is open to both IET members and non-members alike.

The emphasis is to develop participants’ presentation skills (75% of the evaluation) with a lesser focus on the technical content (25% of the evaluation), enabling competitors through various levels of studies or careers to participate on equal footing.

The presentations are delivered in front of a panel of judges as well as an audience.  Dr. J. Keith Nelson, Professor Emeritus, Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering Dept. will be one of the judges at the competition.

Presentations are given through four different competition rounds - university, local network, regional, and global. Winners at each level proceed onwards.  There are cash prizes to be won at each stage and all expenses paid travel for competitors at the regional and global levels.
