About this event

As the London Underground celebrates its 150th anniversary, the line upgrade programme is well advanced with the completion of the Victoria line upgrade and the ongoing delivery of new trains, signalling and infrastructure to re-equip the Sub-Surface Railway. Meanwhile, LU is planning for the future with the development of the next generation of line upgrades for the Bakerloo, Piccadilly, Waterloo & City and Central lines – the Deep Tube Programme – to provide much-needed extra capacity to meet forecasts of continued rising demand in the 2020’s, and to look at the opportunity of higher levels of automation.  This programme represents a unique opportunity for LU to apply a whole railway system approach and harness developments in technology to aim for a truly world class metro with greater reliability, energy efficiency and higher levels of automation.
The speakers will outline the current scope of feasibility studies underway and the complex strategic and systems engineering analysis involved in the development of the upgrade specifications for the Deep Tube lines and will provide an insight into the challenges faced in applying a ‘world class’ systems approach on LU’s legacy railway infrastructure.

About the speakers

  • Kevin Moore,  CEng, MIMeche: LU’s Sponsor for the Deep Tube Programme. He has a background in Rolling Stock Engineering and more than 20 years experience in sponsoring complex railway projects.
