About this event

This event is aimed primarily at senior executives in the health and care world whose decisions today will hasten – or hinder – the arrival of improved technology-enabled care. We believe we have assembled a group of speakers with the greatest chance of successfully predicting what will happen over the next ten years!

Aim: The aim of this conference is to explore impact of new technologies, for example in the fields of devices, data management, imagining and informatics, on the delivery of health care and to explore the impact of probable future technological developments on the delivery on health care over the next 10 years.


  1. Understand some of the principal technological advances likely to affect the delivery of health care by 2027.
  2. Recognise the potential impact of these changes on patient outcomes and cost effectiveness.
  3. Consider the planning required if health care delivery is going to adapt and embrace these changes.
  4. Consider the impact of such advances on staff and the implications for education, training and staff development.
  5. Understand the information needed to be able to make a strong business case for the investment in resources needed to be able support integrations of these advances.

The Telemedicine & eHealth Section of the RSM and the IET are calling for abstracts for authors wishing to present their work in poster form as part of the meeting programme. Abstracts are welcome from all professionals working in healthcare and related fields with younger members of the community particularly encouraged to submit their work. Topics of particular interest are:

  • Patient monitoring applications linked to mobile devices
  • Imaging and informatics, particularly in cancer
  • Image guided therapy
  • Biomedical signal and image analysis
  • Wearable and implantable devices
  • Radiotherapy and knowledge-based treatment planning and delivery
  • Machine learning in molecular and genetics
  • Advanced therapeutic and diagnostic systems
  • Precision cancer treatment
  • Future applications (molecular and genomic led therapy, learning from ‘big data’, knowledge-based radiotherapy planning)
  • Assisted technology for social care and dementia
