Recent high profile news stories show how our personal information is seen by more people than we'd realised. The public has a strongly negative reaction when their personal information is harvested for financial or political ends. However, the public also relies on services that monitor our day-to-day lives in order to secure our safety.

This half day event will look at the areas where new technology can cause us to re-assess the trade-off between right to privacy and right to safety. In particular we will consider the societal and technology challenges associated with data-abstraction, internet business models and public safety. All participants are reminded that this is a public forum therefore no confidential information will be shared at this event.
