About this event

A rare opportunity to visit Bombardier Transportation UK Ltd in Derby and tour the facilities. Subject to confirmation, this visit will include tours of the following areas:

  • Engineering Development Laboratory - including demonstrations of how various train components are tested before they are incorporated into vehicles.
  • Train Control Test Laboratory  - see how the train control and management software is tested and proved for service.
  • Train build lines for Southern 377/6 and London Underground SSL - tour the production lines for the latest vehicles and see the staged approach to manufacture.

This visit has been organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the IET Railway Network.
