About this event

The Dockyard site at Plymouth is one of the largest users of electricity in the South West Region with an annual electricity bill in excess of  £10 million. This large and complex private distribution network must serve the needs of all its customers. This talk explores the history of the site, the details of the various 50 and 60Hz systems and the on-going challenges of supporting customers and reducing energy on the largest Naval Base in Western Europe.

Speaker 

Jack Aust is a chartered electrical engineer who has been at Devonport Dockyard for more than fifteen years with responsibilities for operation and maintenance of the support facilities.

This is a joint event between the Scotland South West Local Network and the IET Scotland Power Group.
