Organisations which manage medical equipment might use a database as an asset inventory, for recording service history and for scheduling planned maintenance. The database has a bearing on the quality of the service, affecting efficiency and effectiveness. Many departments operate a system successfully although some will be using only a fraction of the functionality available to them.
