Introduction

The IET has been invited to run a session at SofNET 2008 as a part of University Programme Luncheon on Wednesday, 30 April 2008.

SofNET 2008 is the premier conference and exhibition uniting software technologies and transformation, which is targeting software, next generation technologies and service providers. The event has been organised by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC).

SofNET attracts the world’s senior level decision makers searching for the latest products and technologies to build out NGNs that can assist you in taking your company to the next level.

About the event

The session will be of interest to both academia and industry, it will focus on governmental effort to bridge the gap between industry and academia. The luncheon will feature a presentation from Philip Hargrave, CEO and Network Director, Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network (DC-KTN), UK.

The Digital Communications Knowledge Transfer Network (DC-KTN)

This new initiative established by the Technology Strategy Board and industry-led group of major players in Telecommunications, Broadcasting and IT. Its objective is to take the lead in developing and directing activities aimed at the exchange of knowledge on emerging Digital Communications technologies between academia and industry.

The activity will bring together government agencies, universities, research organizations and businesses. A Networking Lunch will immediately follow the talk and will provide an excellent opportunity to find out more about the IET and the KTN initiative.
