Introduction
Speakers will interpret IEC 61508 and related standards in the context of safety integrity levels. The standards will be brought to life through case studies and practical examples, demonstrating how the theory works in reality.
Discussion on the current methodologies used for SIL determination will allow delegates to recognise the benefits and pitfalls of each approach, including a detailed assessment of Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
Renowned SIL expert Ken Simpson will evaluate the most effective approaches to risk determination for fire and gas systems, describing the use of dispersion modelling to assist in the location of gas detectors.
The programme draws on experience from key industries including power, process and transport, providing increased networking opportunities, information sharing and cross-sector benchmarking.
Who should attend?
This event will be of interest to engineers and technical managers from organisations that:
- manage safety, health and environmental systems
- specify the safety requirements and target SIL of E/E/PE safety-related systems
- provide safety-related systems designed to meet the target SIL and safety requirements
- maintain and optimise SIL performance on operational assets
Benefits of attending
- Understand the pros and cons of current SIL determination methodologies such as LOPA
- Let expert speakers break through the jargon of IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and IEC 62061 in relation to Safety Integrity Levels
- Learn lessons from the field about the safety implications of upgrading legacy systems
