Introduction

There are numerous sources of EMF's within the hospital environment. In recent years there has been a widespread increase in the introduction of wireless and mobile technologies within healthcare. Wireless technologies for data transfer, remote monitoring and communication offer many benefits to the field of medicine, but with the proliferation of these technologies, often in an uncontrolled and ad-hoc manner, are there hidden dangers and problems that we may face?

This meeting aims to identify the sources of Electromagnetic fields within the hospital, look at the impact of wireless technologies including the issues surrounding implementation, interoperability and coexistence with other medical and non-medical equipment, look at techniques for measuring and monitoring such fields, and methods to successfully manage the EM environment.
