Steve Haley, IEng, MIET, Engineering Manager, Selfridges & Co.
Steve began his engineering career with British Rail, York in 1973 training in all aspects of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering associated with Railways. Since then he as worked at various levels within the Building Services industry and is now Engineering Manager responsible for Electrical Services within Selfridges & Co based in Oxford Street, London.
Darrell Locke, IEng MIEE ACIBSE, Technical manager ECA
Darrell has over 25 years experience in the Electrical Industry and for the last 11 years he has been deeply involved with the continuous development of The IEE Wiring Regulations.Over the years he has produced a number of publications, spoken at conferences, seminars and live radio regarding various electrical matters.. Darrell is a Chairman of one of the four Panels of the Wiring Regulations committee dealing with a considerable amount of the document. He has recently authored a comprehensive guide book on the 17th Edition.
Geoffrey Stokes Eur Ing, Benchmark Electrical Safety Technology Ltd
Geoffrey is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a Fellow of both the IET and CIBSE. He is also a Member of the Society of Expert Witnesses and runs an electrical safety consultancy. Previous positions held include the Technical Regulations Manager at the IET and the Principal Engineer of the Standards Department of the NICEIC (recently renamed the Electrical Safety Council.
He is a Member of the IET Wiring Regulations Policy Committee and represents the IET on the Joint BSI/IEE Technical Committee (JPEL/64) responsible for the technical content of BS 7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations) and the implementation of related international and European standards in which he is also very much involved.
Geoffrey is an established technical author and published works include: A Practical Guide to the Wiring Regulations (now in its third edition) published by Blackwell Science, Handbook on Electrical Installation Practice (fourth edition) also published by Blackwell Science and IEE Guidance Note No 8: Earthing and Bonding published by the IET.
Geoffrey began his career ‘on the tools’ undertaking a traditional craft apprenticeship from which he emerged to start his own electrical contracting company which he ran for two decades before changing paths to take an engineering degree as a mature student.
On acquiring formal qualifications, he took the post of NICEIC Inspecting Engineer for North West London, which was quickly followed by promotion to the post of Senior Engineer to a NICEIC Head Office.
He then moved to the Institution of Electrical Engineers where he was Technical Regulations Manager before moving on to become Chief Electrical Engineer to a three-office consultancy practice (London, Oxford and Cambridge).
Returning to the NICEIC in 1991, he was until December 2005 Principal Engineer where he was responsible for the Standards Department of what is now known as the Electrical Safety Council. He still serves on quite a number of BSI, IEC and CENELEC standards-making committees and maintenance teams.
