Clive Deadman

Clive has lived and worked in France, Africa and the UK as a Venture Capitalist. At United Utilities he has held a range of Operational and Asset Management posts in their Regulated Water, Wastewater and Electricity businesses. 

Recently Clive has been the Strategy and Planning Director for UU’s Electricity Distribution Utility Business where UU has implemented a new Asset Management Infrastructure using wireless condition data capture to improve Asset Investment and Network Risk Management. 

Currently as Programme Director for UU’s World Class Asset Management Programme, he is implementing the Common Framework and best affordable asset management throughout UU’s Regulated Water & Wastewater Utilities.

Barry Hatton

Barry graduated from Imperial College, London and joined what was then the South Eastern Electricity Board (Seeboard). He has been in the Electricity Industry over 28 years.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IET, Barry leads EDF Energy’s Networks Branch Asst Management and CAPEX programme delivery functions, with an investment programme over the current DPCR4 period, of £2bn.

Barry is a member of the ENA Engineering Committee and an Executive Member of the Power Academy.

Chris Hurst

Chris has responsibility for maintenance, energy management and engineering compliance programmes for GSK’s global pharmaceutical and consumer products manufacturing division. 

He has 25 years experience with GSK working at sites in the UK and internationally. He is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.

Gareth Jenkins

As Network Rail’s Head of Asset Management Gareth is responsible for the further development of Network Rail’s asset management approach.

A member of the Council of the Institute of Asset Management as well as a chartered civil engineer his career has spanned a range of asset management work, including the construction of new bridges for railway electrification schemes, projects to open new stations and to introduce new railway passenger services and the management of capital investment programmes and asset operating and maintenance budgets.

He has also worked on a number of business change programmes, aimed at putting in place the culture, competence, organisational structures and contractual arrangements needed to deliver effective asset management.

As far as title goes I’ve proposed “Developing and Asset Management Framework for Sustainable Performance” with supporting bullet points:

  • Linking corporate objectives to frontline delivery
  • Adopting a PAS 55-based approach to asset management
  • Implementing a system for asset management governance to avoid conflicts on asset investment decisions

Steve Priddy

Dr. Steve Priddy is Director of Technical Policy & Research at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Prior to joining the ACCA, he worked for 22 years at Ove Arup & Partners. He has extensive experience of project finance and investment appraisal on major projects. 

His current research interests are in PPP modes of procurement and transparency of accounting; and the business opportunities afforded in the adaptation to, and mitigation of the effects of, climate change. He is also interested in the common challenges presented by conceptualising whole life costs and benefits in private company pension plans.
