Electric vehicles

Look through a selection of videos and presentations on the development of electric vehicles and the IET's involvement in this key area.

Electric and hybrid vehicles are central to the development of the modern world and are at the forefront of the UK Government’s low carbon economy agenda.

As a key strategic focus for the IET Transport and Energy Sectors, the drive towards low carbon transportation and the challenges around energy supply capabilities and future investment has been widely published by the IET, given the institution’s relationship with experts working on electric and hybrid vehicle projects in industry and academia.

Various reports have been published and events organised by the IET on this topic, as well as the launch of a recent standards publication on Electric Vehicle Charging Installation. All relevant content has been put together in this resource area for the sharing of knowledge about electric and hybrid vehicles among the engineering and technology community.

Areas covered include information on the background of electric and hybrid vehicles (types, batteries, availability, statistics, wiring and regulation), an overview of the industry, the IET’s involvement in electric vehicles (trials around the UK, conferences, seminars), events (IET organised and external) planned for the next year and future developments in electric and hybrid vehicles.
