Engineered for Business Success was a joint-event in leadership brought by The Institution of Engineering and Technology East Midlands Young Professionals and The Institute of Directors Young Director Forum East Midlands, supported by the IET Transport and Manufacturing Technical and Professional Networks.
In the past centuries, engineers have been trained to be able to analyse problems deeply in a very specific area and provide solutions.
Today's challenges however are very multi-disciplinary and often linked with business and global issue. Engineers therefore are required to be able to analyse many different aspects and synthesise them concurrently in order to deliver optimum and efficient solutions.
At the Engineered for Business Success event, the organisers and speakers addressed these challenges and how the successful engineers have been able to lead their team and enterprise successfully. Speakers included Colin Walton (Former Chairman of Bombardier), Richard Merrills (SigAssure co-founder & MD), and Paul Bostock (Jaguar/Land Rover Hybrid Technical Manager).
The event took place in Nottingham Conference Centre on the 21st November 2012, chaired by Dr Ronaldo Ronaldo (IET) and Nick Taylor-Ward (IoD).
