Accountability diagram
How to present your accountability diagram
The accountability diagram is your work family tree, and is used by assessors to get a snapshot of your position within your company.
Assessors use the accountability diagram as a quick reference diagram to understand your position within your company, and so it should be made as clear as possible. Many companies produce something similar (organisation chart etc), but you are advised against cutting and pasting into the application form for several reasons:
- corporate organisation charts rarely have the information the IET assessors require,
- the formatting rarely survives the experience
- many charts become illegible.
The diagram should show:
- two or three levels of authority above your post
- tour post (indicated with an arrow)
- all the levels below your post
- any professionally registered members of the IET or similar professional bodies, noting their category of membership
- If your sponsor is within the organisation you work for that they are clearly identified on the diagram.
The diagram should avoid:
- colour
- photographs
- elaborate formatting.
