Characterisation and competences for Incorporated Engineer Registration

Incorporated engineers are characterised by their ability to act as exponents of today's technology through creativity and innovation. To this end, they maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology, and may undertake engineering design, development, manufacture, construction and operation.

Incorporated engineers are engaged in technical and commercial management and possess effective interpersonal skills.

UKSPEC competences

The UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UKSPEC) describes 16 generic competences for IEng. You are advised to read this document before starting to complete an application.

You must be able to give evidence in your application that you have demonstrated each of the competences. Advice is available on writing good competence claims for your application.
