Not sure if you are ready to apply?
Do you have a few years experience and want to gain professional registration but not sure where to start?
If you are established in your career, have several years relevant professional experience and are able to demonstrate examples of competence from your work related experience there is no requirement for you to submit an RPD form.
Self assessment of competence
If you are unsure whether or not you may be ready to apply then you should undertake a self assessment of competence against the requirements for your chosen category of professional registration. This can be done using our online professional development system Career Manager.
A self assessment of competence will provide you with an overview of your current performance levels and allow you to focus your professional development should you identify any short falls in your existing skills set.
Once you have undertaken a self assessment of competence you should discuss your findings with your supporters to gain their feedback. You can also seek the advice of a professional registration advisor regarding your readiness to apply.
Ready to apply
If you feel that you are ready to apply, you should compete an application form and familiarise yourself with the registration process.
Not ready to apply
If you do not feel that you are ready to apply you should complete a development action plan, with the help and support of a line manager or mentor, based on the findings of your self assessment of competence. This will allow you to identify relevant actions and monitor your progress. You can also register your intention to work towards professional registration with us by submitting an RPD form if you do not feel that you will be ready to apply within a year.
