Technical report writing

Two day in-company course

Is technical report writing part of your current role? Is it required within your company or organisation? Are you looking to brush up your skills on report writing?

Reading and writing reports occupies a considerable amount of working time, particularly for senior staff and yet many professionals lack confidence in their report writing skills. This two-day course takes delegates through report writing from the earliest stage of identifying the reading audience to completion of the document.

Delegates are encouraged to send a short report in advance for review by the tutor. All such documents will be treated as strictly confidential and returned before the end of the course.

Please note the technical report writing course is not in any way associated with report writing towards professional registration.

Objectives

  • Identifying the readership;
  • organising the data to achieve maximum impact;
  • writing clearly and unambiguously.

Programme outline

  • Plan of action for report preparation;
  • report format and presentation;
  • style and usage in reports;
  • group work and individual review sessions.

This course is currently only available on an in-company basis. Technical report writing will be available as a public course in the 2009 professional development courses portfolio.
